Accelerating the Competitiveness and Inclusiveness of the Mung Bean Value Chain in Myanmar (ACTIOM)
The ACTIOM project in Myanmar will contribute to the achievement of SDG 8 by developing a clear pathway for smallholder farmers to gainfully engage in the mung bean value chain by creating market-driven and sustainable inclusive growth in the local community. This objective is supported by the business case of Evers Specials B.V. which sources raw mung beans from Myanmar to process into sprouts in their factory in the Netherlands. More specifically, the ACTIOM project will aim for two key results: 1) increased smallholder farm income through increased productivity and production of safe, quality mung beans, and 2) more inclusive business practices and Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) in the value chain. The beneficiaries are 5,000 farmers, of which 1,500 women and 750 youth.
